The Embassy of India in Manila just celebrated Ayurveda Day.

The science of ayurveda is one of the most ancient and well-documented systems of medicine. While its foundation lies in ancient Indian civilization, it has evolved into its modern form as a distinct entity that continues to hold great importance in present times.

India is emerging as the world’s leading health-care and wellness destination. In addition to its established strengths in the pharmaceutical industries, the country has earned a reputation as the “pharmacy of the world.” India’s world-class medical professionals as well as health-care and diagnostics facilities are growing in demand across the globe. The revitalization of traditional systems of medicine, combined with age-old Indian practices such as yoga and meditation, are complementary developments as humankind seeks holistic, and ecologically and socially sustainable models to enhance health and overall well-being.

Today, ayurveda is relevant globally because of its holistic and comprehensive approach to health; India is playing a leading role in this process.
