SURAT: Bharuch police have nabbed four accused from Surat involved in the daylight loot of gold jewellery worth Rs 3.39 crore and cash of Rs 1.79 lakh from the office of India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) at Ankleshwar town on November 9.
Police sources said that maximum amount of booty looted by the four robbers have been recovered in the form of gold jewellery and cash.
The accused were nabbed from Surat following the information received by the Bharuch crime branch on Tuesday.
The names of the accused are yet to be revealed by the police.
The masked robbers entered the branch office of IIFL on the first floor of Ashish Shopping Centre at around 9am on November 9.
The robbers spent about 30 minutes inside the office holding the staffers captive on gunpoint and knives and escaped with 6,680 grams of gold jewellery and cash before fleeing in their car. Footage of the CCTV installed in the shopping complex showed the four robbers escaping in a Swift car.
Talking with TOI, JN Zala, police inspector of Bharuch crime branch said, “We have nabbed the four accused involved in the sensational robbery at IIFL office in Ankleshwar from Surat. We had sought the help of the Valsad and Mumbai police in cracking the case as they had nabbed gang members involved in targeting the gold finance offices in Mumbai and Gujarat.”
This is the third consecutive dacoity at IIFL's office in south Gujarat since 2017. In January-2020, six armed robbers had targeted the IIFL office on the Vapi-Silvassa Road at Chanod of Vapi in Valsad district and escaped with Rs 3 lakh cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 6.56 crore.
