Covid-19 cases cross 18,000 mark in Varanasi district

VARANASI: The number of Covid-19 cases crossed the mark of 18,000 in Varanasi district on Wednesday. However, the district also witnessed a decrease in the number of active cases of coronavirus.
According to the medical bulletin, 69 persons tested positive for Covid-19 increasing the cumulative number of positive cases to 18,067. While 88 patients in home isolation recovered from illness, three patients were also discharged from the hospital increasing the number of cured patients to 17,197.
With one more death, the number of fatalities rose to 291. Presently, Varanasi has 579 active cases of Covid-19.
The number of active cases of Covid-19 continued to decrease in Ballia district on the second consecutive day on Wednesday. According to the medical bulletin, the active cases of coronavirus dropped from 97 to 95. However, 12 new cases were also reported increasing the tally of positive cases to 6,634. With the recovery of 14 patients, the number of cured patients increased to 6,446, while 93 patients lost their lives during treatment in Ballia.
Chandauli district reported 20 new cases increasing the number of positive cases to 4,087. With the recovery of 11 patients, the number of cured patients increased to 3,889 so far, while the district has 150 active cases of Covid-19. The coronavirus claimed 48 lives in Chandauli.
Earlier, Jaunpur district reported 11 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday increasing the tally to 6,032.
As many as 15 patients declared cured, increasing the number of recovered patients to 5,799. So far 90 patients lost their lives during treatment in Jaunpur.
