BHUBANESWAR: Chief secretary Asit Tripathy on Friday reviewed the progress of the cancer hospital at Bargarh. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had announced for establishment of this hospital.
The cancer care hospital will come up at district headquarters hospital (DHH), Bargarh. Meanwhile, the expert committee has already selected the site and outlined the
clinical facilities to be available in the hospital.
The major facilities include radiotherapy, CT simulator, HDR Brachytherapy, dosimetry, immobilization,
histopathology laboratory,
emergency care and day care
chemotherapy.
A bunker of 100 ft x 100 ft area will be constructed for radiotherapy unit. The government has proposed to start it as a 50-bed hospital.
Tripathy in the high-level virtual meeting directed the officials to equip the hospital properly with adequate doctor and paramedics. It was decided to place human resources like radiation oncologist, medical physicist, radiotherapy technician, emergency doctors, nurses, front office executives, pharmacist, chemo-nurses along with other manpower. He also asked to deploy appropriate housekeeping and sanitization system for upkeep of the hospital.
Additional chief secretary (health) PK Mohapatra, director national health mission Salini Pandit and other officials and medical experts participated in the deliberations.
