HYDERABAD: With several controversial speeches made by various leaders from different political parties during the on going campaign for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election, director general of police M Mahendar Reddy on Thursday said that all the speeches are under police scanner and legal opinion is being taken on every speech before taking any action.
The DGP during a press conference said that some individuals are planning to create communal disturbance in the city and he refused to divulge specific details.

In reaction to BJP state president Bandi Sanjay’s question why police have not nabbed any person, when police have specific information about some people conspiring to create communal violence, DGP said that action is already being taken but they are not putting it out to avoid getting sensational.
"Taking advantage of GHMC elections, some are trying to create communal violence. We have specific information on this. Police are constantly watching the social media, to identify objectionable messages, which can lead to Law & Order problems,’’ DGP said.
When reporters referred about the controversial statements like BJP state president Sanjay’s surgical statement and MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi statement about the removing of PV Ghat and NTR Ghat, DGP said that all the statements are being examined and legal opinion is being taken and action will be taken as per Law.
As BJP is widely campaigning about the need to identify illegally staying members of the Rohingya community in Hyderabad, DGP said that the ``question of shielding any one does not arise’’. Till now 62 cases were booked against illegally staying Rohingya.
As part of GHMC election bandobust, 51,500 policemen will be on duty.
