I was deputed on duty with other policemen at barricading to maintain law and order on the highway near Farouli turn at Mohra. During barricading, kisan union leader Gurnam Singh Charuni reached the spot with tractor trolleys, motorcycles, cars, and other vehicles along with the fierce crowd of his union. DSP Ambala Cantt Ram Kumar talked to Charuni and other leaders that they should not commit such a disturbance and return to their homes.”
“Charuni, Amarjeet, Jai Singh and his son, Rakesh, and Navdeep Singh and their accomplices did not obey the DSP’s orders and while obstructing government duties and driving their vehicles at a fast speed they broke police barricading on NH-1 (aka NH-44). They attempted to run over the on-duty policemen with tractor trolleys and while assaulting them, proceeded towards Kurukshetra. Charuni and his accomplices disobeyed Covid-19 orders and were not wearing masks and encouraged the spread of corona pandemic. In an attempt to murder, they tried to run over policemen, who had narrow escape,” he added.
