‘Nivar’ brings overcast skies, drizzle to Odisha

Several places in southern and coastal Odisha on Thursday witnessed light rain and cloudy skies under the influence of Cyclone Nivar , which hit the coast between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday night.

BHUBANESWAR: Several places in southern and coastal Odisha on Thursday witnessed light rain and cloudy skies under the influence of Cyclone Nivar , which hit the coast between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday night.
Malkangiri recorded 1 mm rainfall.
The night temperature also saw a drop in many places across the state. At least nine places recorded a minimum temperature below 15°C.
Daringbadi recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10°C in the state. Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum of 18.2°C, two degree less than normal.
There was also a drop in the day temperature in parts of southern and coastal Odisha during the day. The city’s day temperature, recorded at 26.4°C, saw a sharp four degree fall from normal.
The IMD forecast said the intensity of rain would decrease on Friday, but added that the minimum temperature would fall by 3-4 more degrees by Saturday.
The director of regional IMD centre, H R Biswas, said most parts of the state saw light to moderate rain. He said the minimum temperature saw a minor rise in some places, but that it would fall gradually from Saturday.
Biswas said there were chances of shallow to moderate fog in some places for the next two days in the south-interior parts of the state.
