Madurai woman police inspector arrested for accepting bribe

MADURAI: A woman inspector of police was arrested in Madurai on Thursday night for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 to remove the names of two accused men from the chargesheet of a 2017 hurt case.
Inspector Anitha of Checkanurani police station sought a bribe of Rs 80,000 and Rs 30,000 as advance from the complainant, Nallathambi, to remove the names of his son Mari and nephew Kamal Pandi from the list of accused.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) laid a trap on Thursday night based on a complaint and caught her red-handed.
