CHANDIGARH: As many as 745 fresh cases of Covid-19 surfaced on Saturday in
Punjab while 28 people succumbed to the virus which has so far claimed 4,710 lives in the state.
A steady rise in number of cases in recent weeks has pushed the active cases to higher than the national rate. The state's active cases stands at 5.19% against the national average of 4%.
The recovery rate has also slipped to 92% against the national average of 94%.
Of total deaths reported in last 24 hours, six people died in Bathinda, five in Ludhiana, three each in Amritsar and Hoshiarpur, two each in Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Mansa and Tarn Taran. One death each was reported in Fazilka and Sangrur.
Mohali recorded highest of 178 cases followed by 100 in Ludhiana, 99 in Jalandhar, 80 in Patiala and 50 in Amritsar. As many as 48 people were tested positive in Pathankot, 46 in Bathinda, 24 in Hoshiarpur, 15 in Mansa, 14 in Kapurthala, 12 in Muktsar, 11 each in Ropar and Nawanshahr, 10 in Fazilka, nine in Faridkot, seven in Sangrur, six in Fatehgarh Sahib and three in Ferozepur.
