Suchitra Krishnamurthi's play was Bengaluru's first big stage performance since the new normal
Last Friday was a landmark of sorts for Bengaluru's cultural circuit, as the city witnessed its first stage production in months, at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. This was a new version of Suchitra Krishnamoorthi's production, The Queen Of Drama. Besides leading the way for performances in the new normal, the event was all the more special for the actress, writer and singer as it took place on her birthday. Suchitra said, "I love coming to Bengaluru as the crowd understands and appreciates art.
I chose to debut this version of my production here, on my birthday, as I have a lot of family here."
Given the current scenario, several precautions were in place to ensure no lapse in social distancing norms. There was screening of temperature and mandatory sanitization before the audience were allowed to enter the hall. The auditorium was sanitized two hours before the show began and audience members were asked to sit two seats apart from each other, to maintain social distancing.
