PM Modi inaugurates six-lane Varanasi- Prayagraj project : Key points

PM Narendra Modi inaugurates six-lane Varanasi-Prayagraj highway
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday visited his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on the occasion of Dev Deepawali. During his day-long visit, PM Modi inaugurated six-lane Varanasi- Prayagraj project ahead of participating in Dev Deepawali festivities. He will also visit the Sarnath archaeological site. In the backdrop of farmers' agitation in the capital, PM also spoke about how new farm laws will empower farmers.
Here are the top quotes from PM Modi's address:
  • On this auspicious day of Dev Deepawali and Gurupurab, the people of Varanasi also get the gift of this six-lane highway.
  • Over the last few years the beautification and infrastructure projects undertaken in Kashi are showing results.
  • New highways, pull-flyovers, widening of roads to reduce traffic jams, the work that is currently being done in and around Benaras has never happened since independence.
  • Today Uttar Pradesh is known as Express Pradesh. The credit goes to the work done by Yogiji and his team. Today UP is being connected with expressways and airports.
  • This development also benefits our farmers.
  • Over the years, efforts have been made to create storage, cold storage arrangements along modern roads in the villages. A fund of 1 lakh crore rupees has also been created for this.
  • Due to the creation of a perishable cargo centre in Varanasi, now the farmers here have got a great facility to store and sell fruits and vegetables easily. Due to this storage capacity, for the first time, the produce of farmers here is being exported in large quantities.
  • A good example of how the farmers are benefiting from the efforts and modern infrastructure of the government is the black rice-black rice of Chandauli. This rice is bringing prosperity in the homes of farmers of Chandauli.
  • New farm bills empower farmers, gives more options to them, says PM Modi in Varansi. PM says earlier smaller farmer could not reach mandi. New farm bills not only give more options but also legal protection to their rights as well, PM says. However Some questions are bound to arise, which is democratic but a new trend is emerging now, says Modi.
  • Governments make policies, make laws and regulations. If policies and laws are supported, then some questions are also natural. It is a part of democracy and has been a living tradition in India.
  • But for some time, a different trend has been seen in the country. Earlier it used to be that if someone did not like the decision of the government, then it was opposed. But for some time now we are seeing that now the basis of opposition is not the decision but apprehensions are being made.
  • It is criticized that the decision is fine but it can happen later. Confusion is spread in society about what has not happened yet, which will never happen. The same is happening in the case of agricultural reforms. These are the same people who have consistently tricked the farmers for decades. That is, the fraud was also done on the debt.
  • MSP was declared, but very little was made on MSP. The MSP was tricked for years. Large loan waiver packages were announced in the name of farmers. But they did not reach the small and marginal farmers.
