Will declare decision on entering politics as soon as possible, says Rajinikanth

    Synopsis

Last month, Rajinikanth had for the first time disclosed that he had undergone a kidney transplant in 2016 in the United States and that the doctors were against him venturing into politics in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rajinikanth unlikely to take political plunge, says 'will announce my decision soon'
Chennai: Actor Rajinikanth met district secretaries of his Rajini Makkal Mandram forum on Monday and said he would announce his decision soon about his entry into electoral politics.

"District office bearers expressed their opinions. They have said they will agree to whatever decision I take. I will announce my decision as soon as possible," the 69-year-old said after the meeting that was held at the actor's Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in the city.

The megastar has kept everyone on tenterhooks over his electoral debut ever since he announced that he was keen on taking the plunge into politics. The suspense has only heightened with the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election which will be the first since the death of larger-than-life political figures like J Jayalalithaa of the AIADMK and MK Karunanidhi.

With the actor not indicating when he is likely to announce his final decision, it leaves a huge question mark over whether he will ultimately join the electoral race or provide his support to a party, many of whom have been looking to capitalise on his mass following.

Speculation is rife though that actor may choose to announce the launch of his political outfit on his birthday on December 12.

This becomes significant after a letter that was leaked online showed doctors advising him against campaigning owing to the ongoing pandemic and the actor's health condition. While the actor said the letter was fake, he did agree that its contents were true and that doctors had indeed advised him to restrict political activity owing to his kidney transplant.
