The timing assumes significance following a letter that did the rounds online in October which had doctors advising him against campaigning due to the Covid-19 pandemic and his poor health. While the actor was quick to point out that the letter was fake, he agreed that its contents were true and that doctors had indeed advised him to restrict political activity owing to a kidney transplant in 2016.
“District office bearers expressed their opinions. They have said they will agree to whatever decision I take. I will announce my decision as soon as possible," the 69-year-old said after the meeting, which was held at the actor’s Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam.
Speculation is rife that he may launch his political foray on his birthday - December 12.
