New Delhi: Taking stock of the recently concluded assembly polls, a triumphant Bihar BJP has started immediate work on strengthening the party organisation, especially in areas where it did not perform well.

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal undertook a tour of the old Shahabad region last week and collected feedback from party leaders including the candidates who lost the polls. The region comprises 22 assembly seats across Rohtas, Bhojpur, Buxar and Kaimur districts.

Although the old Shahabad region was considered a stronghold of the NDA, the ruling coalition won only two seats in Bhojpur district and lost on all the seats in Rohtas, Kaimur and Buxar.

“I wanted to boost the morale of workers in the areas where the party could not put up a good show in the recent assembly polls. In the coming one year, we will give top priority to strengthen our party organisation in south Bihar, which accommodates old Shahabad and Magadh regions,” Jaiswal told ET.

Apart from visiting the old Shahabad region, Jaiswal held meetings with the party leaders of different districts, including Patna, Jehanabad and Chhapra. “Besides the party’s district presidents, the candidates who lost the elections were also invited to this meeting. Jaiswal collected feedback from us,” said Rajeshwar Raj, the BJP candidate who lost the polls from Karakat seat in Rohtas district.

The BJP has also started approaching the booth level workers of the areas in which the party performed very well in the assembly polls. Jaiswal recently felicitated functionaries of the booth committees of the areas in Raxaul in East Champaran district where the party bagged a good number of votes.
