State home minister Anil Deshmukh on Sunday said that six Intermediate Support Vessels (ISV) have been procured by the state to strengthen coastal security and patrolling against the backdrop of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai.
Deshmukh, who was campaigning in Nagpur district for the Congress candidate in the graduates constituency poll, said the ISVs had been expected to reach Mumbai by the 26/11 anniversary but could not be delivered on time by the foreign manufacturer as ports were closed due to pandemic.

"Soon, we will have the boats with modern equipment and gadgets to fortify coastal security and monitoring movements in coastal regions," said the home minister.
"It's a 23-feet long vessel with capacity for 40 personnel and crew. They would add to sea patrolling and surveillance capability along the coast," he said. The boats would supplement the existing fleet of Fast Patrol Vessels (FPV). ISVs can stay at sea for about a week.
Deshmukh also elaborated on the issue of adding 5,000 CCTV cameras in Mumbai to increase the number of areas surveilled.
