MUMBAI: As the price of
petrol in 12 districts across the state breached the Rs 90-mark, the price in Mumbai crossed Rs 89 per litre on Sunday. If the upward trend continues, petrol is likely to cross Rs 90 in Mumbai in three to four days, sources said. The price of diesel touched the Rs 79-mark on Sunday and could soon cross Rs 80 per litre, sources said.
The 12 districts where the price of petrol is over Rs 90 include Amravati, Aurangabad, Beed, Buldana, Gondia, Hingoli, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Ratnagiri.
The price was highest in Parbani at Rs 91.45 per litre.
In Mumbai, the price of petrol was hiked by 21 paise on Sunday, to Rs 89.02 per litre. The price of diesel was hiked by 31 paise to Rs 78.97.
This was the seventh time the price of
fuel saw a hike across the state in the last eight days. It is a disturbing trend as both motorists and transporters will be hit if it continues over the next few days. Transporters petitioned the government demanding a rollback on the prices and a halt on the hikes, as it will impact their businesses.
