A drive-in cinema opens in Newcastle later this week giving people a chance to catch a Christmas film on the big screen in Tier 3.
Indoor cinemas and theatres will remain closed in Newcastle after lockdown is lifted, as Tier 3 rules ban them from opening.
But you can go and watch a movie in an American-inspired drive-in cinema which is set to open at Kingston Park Stadium, home of Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club.
Drive-In Cinema UK will be open for three nights this week from Thursday December 3. It will show festive films on a 30 feet high and 46 wide HD display screen.
Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually, The Polar Express, The Grinch and Die Hard will all be screened.
Tickets cost £32 per car.
Callum Campbell, founder of Drive-In Cinema UK said: "We are so excited to be bringing our supersized screen to Newcastle. The Drive-In Cinema is a truly magical movie experience and a brilliant event for all the family - the perfect combination of nostalgia, novelty and entertainment."
He added: “It’s been a tough year for everyone - particularly people working within the events industry, so I feel incredibly lucky that The Drive-In Cinema UK provides a safe environment for people to get out and about, and to enjoy some much needed festive cheer.”
