Eight killed as truck topples on parked SUV in UP's Kaushambi

At least eight persons, including six women, a child and a driver, were killed when a stone-laden truck fell on a parked SUV near Deviganj crossing under the limits of Kadadham police station of Kaushambi district in early Wednesday. Two girls inside the SUV managed to save their lives after jumping from it.

PRAYAGRAJ: At least eight persons, including six women, a child and a driver, were killed when a stone-laden truck fell on a parked SUV near Deviganj crossing under the limits of Kadadham police station of Kaushambi district in early Wednesday. Two girls inside the SUV managed to save their lives after jumping from it.
Additional SP ( Kaushambi ) Samar Bahadur told TOI that the incident happened around 3.30 am on Wednesday when as many as 10 persons of a village were returning after attending a marriage ceremony.
The driver of the SUV had parked the vehicle on a roadside corner and the driver of the truck, whose rear tyre got punctured, could not manage to control the speed and the truck fell on the parked SUV resulting in the killing of eight persons.
A senior police official said, "Efforts are being made to ascertain the identities of the deceased." He added there were a total of six women and an eight- year-old child from three families who had come to attend a marriage party at Shahzadpur village in Kokhraj police station.
Upon being alerted, senior police and administrative officials rushed the spot and carried out rescue work and investigations.
