Brazil set to announce new biodiesel rules next week

In Brazil, Upstream Online reports as part of the government’s efforts to decentralize energy control away from Petrobras, the CNPE energy council is set to approve measures next week that will change the way biodiesel commercialization is governed. In addition, a new biofuel working group will be set up to help support the industry’s expansion. While the government works to push away from Petrobras’ historic fuel monopoly, the company continues to work on HVO and bio-kerosene technologies, both of which still have pending regulatory issues to be resolved before their viability can be confirmed.
