Tamil Nadu minister Vijayabaskar helps critically injured man on highway

Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar attended a man who was critically injured in a road accident on the national highway near Thirukoshtiyur, Sivaganga on Wednesday.

SIVAGANGAI: Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar attended a man who was critically injured in a road accident on the national highway near Thirukoshtiyur, Sivaganga on Wednesday.
After trying to help him gain consciousness, the minister also sent the man to the hospital in his police escort vehicle.
The minister witnessed the victim of a road accident battling for his life at Karuvelankurichi village while returning to Trichy airport after attending various events in Sivaganga.
A video of him providing head support to the injured man using a towel and sprinkling water on his face has become viral on social media platforms.
According to 108 EMRI ambulance service officials, the man, around 60-years-old, was in an inebriated state while riding his bicycle. He was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle. The minister who was passing by, stopped to help the man.
Vijayabaskar also called a top 108 official and alerted him about the accident. The minister, who is also a doctor, noticed the man was bleeding from his ear and that he was unconscious. The victim was rushed to the Thirukoshtiyur primary health centre for first aid.
An ambulance then took the man to the Sivaganga Medical College Hospital at 7.40pm where he was admitted. Following this, he was referred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai as he need tertiary care due to the head injury.
