Suspect Dies and a Police Officer Shot in St. Pete

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – UPDATED STORY CLICK HERE. St. Pete police were involved in a shooting around 4:17 pm in St. Pete on Wednesday. Police say shots were fired in the 1400 block of 18th Ave S. 

One suspect was shot and died in the hospital Wednesday night. One officer was shot and another injured in the shooting.

The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force will be investigating.

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman said in a tweet, “One of our @StPeteFL officers was shot late this afternoon. I spent a moment with the officer at the hospital and will continue to pray for his full recovery. The County’s Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force is conducting the investigation.”
