Honour killing case: Accused denied bail

Honour killing case: Accused denied bail
Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana high court on Wednesday dismissed the bail pleas of Gudur Sandeep Reddy, Keesari Rajitha, Ardham Spandana, Yellu Swapna and other accused, who are accused of being involved in an honour killing.
Their relative, Avanthi Reddy, married Chinta Hemanth Kumar against their wishes. They were arrested later on charges of killing Hemanth on the outer ring road.
Gachibowli police registered a case and arrested Avanthi’s relatives, who filed a bail plea in the high court. State public prosecutor C Pratap Reddy opposed the bail plea and cited two recent judgements of the Supreme Court, which directed the courts to take serious view of the role of the kin in the honour killings.
“Not tolerating the heinous roles played by family members in such cases is the essence of these judgements. In fact, there is no honour in committing honour killings,” the public prosecutor said. The judge dismissed the bail pleas of the accused.
