iciHaiti - Guadeloupe : The Consul of Haiti visits our compatriots at the Abymes detention center
The Consulate General of Haiti in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Martin (French part) and Dominica, informs its nationals and the public in general that on December 2, 2020 the Consul Carl Edouard Saint Rémy and the Vice-Consul Markenzy Casimir visited the Abymes Administrative Retention Center (CRA) (Guadeloupe).

As part of the attributions and rights conferred by the 1963 Vienna Convention on consular relations in its article 36, the two diplomat went to the CRA on Wednesday morning to ensure that the rights of each Haitian national have been respected at the time of their arrest and continue to be so during their period of detention.

They spoke with each compatriot individually, in order to better understand their situation, guide them or provide for their representation. This approach is part of the regular visits which since the health crisis have been postponed.

The Consulate will continue to work for the rights of its nationals to be respected and would like to remind its citizens that in the event that they are arrested, they have the right to request that the Consular Post be notified.
