Tier 3 shopping - what is open and closed

If you are in Tier 3 - the highest category - bars and restaurants will stay closed except for takeaways and strict rules on households mixing will remain.

However indoor shops and non-essential retailers are allowed to open in all tiers, meaning clothes shops, game retailers, phone and toy stores can welcome back customers.

Hairdressers, gyms, beauty salons and tattoo parlours will also be back open, so if you’ll be able to look your best for Christmas.

But if you’re thinking about heading out with pals for a traditional Christmas shopping trip however, you’re out of luck.

The Tier 3 guidelines state you must not meet socially indoors or in most outdoor places with anybody you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble.
