Popular tech coach offers free Microsoft training for UO

An internationally recognized trainer in digital productivity will offer a free, remote Microsoft training to University of Oregon audiences Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The live session will take place on Zoom from 9-10 a.m. Registration is required.

Vickie Sokol Evans, founder of RedCape Academy, will present a condensed version of her popular Microsoft productivity workshop. Participants will learn tips and tricks for using Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and other Microsoft applications more efficiently and effectively.

Evans's clients include Microsoft, The Gates Foundation and Bill Gates's own administrative team, as well as Stanford University, the New York Times, Starbucks and others.

The one-time UO training session evolved from an existing training series on digital fluency that several dozen UO staff members have participated in over the last year, facilitated by Anne Schwarz of Campus Planning and Facilities Management, Joanne Steinhart of University Advancement and Kristin Smith of Information Services.

"Not only has Vickie shared a ton of great information with us but she's been so personable," Smith said. "We're delighted she's offering this open session to share her 'greatest hits' with the whole university community."

"Vickie's training is packed full of time-saving tips that helped me to get the most out of the Microsoft apps I work in every day," Steinhart said. "Everyone will find something useful and wonder how they ever managed without it."

Anyone with questions about the training can contact Kristin Smith.

The session complements the technology trainings available to UO employees through the UO Office of Human Resources. Employees can visit the MyTrack learning calendar for more information.
