A jubilant BJP celebrates impressive performance in Hyderabad polls

A jubilant BJP celebrates impressive performance in Hyderabad polls
NEW DELHI: A jubiliant BJP celebrated its dramatic success in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC ) as " historic", and already appeared to be getting ready to occupy the opposition space should TRS and MIM decide to break the stalemate in the municipal body by joining hands and showcase its success in scoring a big breakthrough in a hitherto difficult terrain.
“Historic result for BJP in Hyderabad GHMC elections shows that people of the country support only and only development agenda.
This result reflects people's unequivocal support to PM Narendra Modi’s development and governance model,” BJP chief JP Nadda said.
He said the GHMC results show rejection of " Dynastic, Corrupt and appeasement politics". “Gratitude to people of Hyderabad for their faith and support,” added Nadda.

Party general secretary Bhupendra Yadav who was the poll- incharge for the GHMC polls ruled out partnerships with TRS to break the deadlock. “We fought against the corruption charges against TRS and the divisive politics of the MIM. We shall abide by the verdict and deliver our duties in the larger interest of the people,” Yadav said.
The outcome on Friday which saw BJP pulling off an impressive feat by taking its tally from measley 4 to 48, just 7 short of TRS, marked another instance of leadership's seemingly risky gambit paying off.

Few in the political circles had appeared to believe Union home minister Amit Shah when he declared that BJP would ensure that Chief Minister K C Rao unfettered control over the muncipal corporation comes to an end.
However, Shah and party president Nadda were convinced that the party's campaign against " dynasty rule " and " corruption " under TRS and the shrill " secular" rhetoric of MIM had created the right climate for the energeting state unit chief Bandi Sanjay to pay dividends.
Yadav drew attention to the way party was mocked for its ambition. “People attacked BJP for giving undue importance to municipal elections. But we maintained we are striving for development at all levels of governance and it is the people of Hyderabad who got our message,” he said.
The impressive performances comes in the wake of party's success in Lok Sabha polls when it surprised many by bagging four seats and the embarrassment it inflicted last month on TRS's by winning the by-election for an assembly seat which was seen as part of the stronghold of TRS's " first family". Juxtaposed with Congress's meltdown and TDP's growing diminution, the results can help clear the way for the party to position itself as the main alternative to the ruling TRS and take advantage of the " anti-incumbency" sentiment displayed so vividly by the results in Hyderabad.
Party which has struggled to expand in large parts of the South after its success in Karnataka makes no bone of its happiness over its expanding footprint in what is considered to be a politically inhospitable geography.
“Those who branded BJP as a party of the north must take note: BJP is a party of everyone from Kashmir to Kanyakumari", said Yadav.
Party is happy with the state unit , with Nadda emphasizing the role of state chief Bandi Sanjay. The election also confirmed the growing appeal of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath among the core constituency outside his home state with Yadav mentioning the response that he Union home minister and Nadda got.
“Amazing example of true leaders leading right from the front. The Hyderabad election results are a win for democratic politics and the politics of inclusive development that PM Modi as opposed to the politics of family-run enterprises masquerading as political parties,” Yadav added.
