Doha: Faculty members and researchers at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have been named among the top 2 percent of the world’s most-cited scientists on a new global list compiled by Stanford University, USA.
Six faculty from the College of Science and Engineering were recognised, namely, Dr. Mounir Hamdi, founding dean of CSE; Dr. Roberto Di Pietro, professor of cybersecurity; Dr. Gordon McKay, founding professor of sustainable development; Dr. Muammer Koc, founding professor and program coordinator of CSE’s sustainability division; Dr. Amine Bermak, founding professor of ICT and associate dean; and Dr. Abdesselam Bouzerdoum, professor of ICT.
Researchers at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, and the Qatar Computing Research Institute were also included on the list. The Stanford University team analysed millions of scientists worldwide, combining several metrics to systematically rank the most influential by scientific field, as measured by citations.
