Bangladesh to sign Preferential Trade Agreement with Bhutan tomorrow
Bangladesh is going to sign a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Bhutan tomorrow to ensure trade benefits after its graduation from least developed country status (LDC) in 2024.
Bhutan is the first country with which Bangladesh is signing a PTA as it was the first country to recognise Bangladesh's independence in 1971, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said at a press conference at the State Guest House Sugandha in Dhaka today.
The minister said he would sign the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh and his Bhutanese counterpart.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering will be present virtually during the signing of the PTA between the two countries.
