The group currently has 30% women at its various senior level managing and executive committee bodies, up from 18% just a year ago. In the top management level, the group has a 21% representation of women, which it plans to take to 30%.

It has been a conscious effort to increase gender diversity at the senior level and the company has achieved this by ensuring that the hiring slate had equal representation of men and women.

“Where ever there was a vacant position we made sure we looked at a pool of candidates that had equal representation of men and women. It was a conscious attempt that enabled this,” said Srivastava.

Citing the business case of a diverse team, Srivastava said: “Diverse teams are the most effective teams and diverse organisations are the most profitable ones.”
