Heartfelt tributes have been paid to an Academy Manager at Blackpool FC who has died.

"Dedicated professional" Warren Green died at the age of 46 following a battle against cancer.

Blackpool FC have paid tribute to Warren, who has had a long association with the club having played in the academy and coached in the community and Centre of Excellence.

After broadening his coaching experiences elsewhere in the UK and out in Sweden, Warren returned to Bloomfield Road in the position of Academy Manager in 2017, overseeing the development and welfare of the Club’s promising youngsters.

In recent seasons, he courageously battled against cancer while working in his role and was a continuous inspiration to all those around him.

A funeral held for the Academy Manager took place from Bloomfield Road yesterday (December 4), with members of the club standing and applauding as the funeral car drove around the pitch perimeter, in line with Covid-19 guidelines.
