Engineer duped of over Rs 4 lakh by job racketeers in Ganjam

A BTech student from Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district was allegedly duped of around Rs 4.25 lakh by job racketeers, who had promised to provide him employment in a reputed company. The matter came to light when the 22-year-old lodged an FIR in this regard on Tuesday. “We have registered a case and started investigation into the matter,” Sudeepta Kumar Sahoo, inspector-in charge, Bhanjanagar police station, said. Police, however, did not disclose the name of the victim on his request.

BERHAMPUR: A BTech student from Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district was allegedly duped of around Rs 4.25 lakh by job racketeers, who had promised to provide him employment in a reputed company. The police said, “The victim had uploaded his biodata on different job search websites. One of the job consultants (quite likely a fraud organization) intimated to him in the first week of October that his name was shortlisted for a position in the company. The job consultant had also intimated to him that his interview would be held online before the final selection.”
After appearing for the interview online, he was given an offer letter to join the company. A person, who had identified himself as the human resource manager, had taken his interview.
