New on Amazon Prime this week: ‘Unpaused’, ‘The Grand Tour’ Season 4 and more

The platform’s first Hindi anthology, Jeremy Clarkson’s new travel adventure and two romantic comedies are the highlights of the week

This week, Amazon Prime Video brings anthology film Unpaused , a collection of five Hindi short films filmed during the pandemic and featuring stories about new beginnings. The film brings together 5 of the most prolific directors from Hindi cinema: Nikkhil Advani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Raj & DK, Nitya Mehra, and Avinash Arun and stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Richa Chaddha, Sumeet Vyas, Saiyami Kher, Rinku Rajguru, Gulshan Devaiah, Ishwak Singh, Lillete Dubey, Abhishek Banerjee, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan and Shardul Bharadwaj in the prominent roles.

Starting December 15, the hit Kannada film Ondu Shikariya Kathe will also stream on the platform. Helmed by Sachin Shetty and starring Siri Prahalad and Pramod Shetty, it is the story of Shambhu Shetty, a reclusive writer who is trying to conquer his inner demons. However, to his dismay, things go wrong and, in this process, he falls prey to certain situations and people's greed. It will be interesting to watch if he will be able to redeem himself?

Telugu animation film Dhira is directed by Arun Kumar Rapolu and features Vijay Sethupathi in lead role, while Vivek Oberoi lends his voice for the Tenali Rama character in the movie. The digital premiere of Dhiru will be on December 20.

December 17 will mark the premiere of the Telugu film Guvva Gorinka, a romantic entertainer directed by Mohan Bammidi and produced by Damu Kosanam & Dalam Jeevan Reddy. The movie casts Satya Dev and Priya Lal in the lead roles.

Like A Boss premering on December 17 is directed by Miguel Arteta and stars Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek. The plot of the film revolves around the lives of two friends Mia and Mel who attempt to take back the control of their cosmetics company from an industry titan.

Premiering on December 18, American science fiction series The Expanse Season 5 is created by Daniel Abraham, Mark Fergus and Ty Franck. This season stars Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham among others.

The Legend of El Cid premiering on December 18, is created by Luis Arranz, José Velasco, and stars Jaime Lorente, Alicia Sanz, José Luis García Pérez. The show revolves around the story of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, a Castilian nobleman and war hero in medieval Spain.

December 18 also marks the digital premiere of the Amazon Prime original travel show The Grand Tour Season 4 , starring Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond. The show revolves around Jeremy, Richard, and James, as they embark on an adventure across the globe, driving new and exciting automobiles from manufacturers all over the world.

The thriller film Most Wanted written and directed by Daniel Roby based on the intersection of Journalism, police work and drug dealing which stars Antoine Olivier Pilon, Josh Hartnett and Stephen McHattie also premieres on December 18 on the platform.

Anthalogy film Unpaused highlight various themes with stories based in the era of Covid. ‘Glitch’ directed by Raj & DK showcases the fear of human contact during these times, ‘Apartment’ directed by Nikkhil Advani highlights the depressing feeling of being left alone, ‘Rat-a-Tat’ directed by Rinki Rajguru shows how comforting bonds irrespective of age differences can help you survive hard-hitting stretches, ‘Vishaanu’ directed by Avinash Arun is the story of a migrant family struggling for their abode and ‘Chaand Mubarak’ by Nitya Mehra highlights how slowly peeling of differences can help individuals survive together regardless of their social strata.

Bandish Bandits (Tamil & Telugu dubs) - December 16

Dhira (Hindi, Tamil & Telugu) - December 20

When South India was under foreign treachery in the 14th century, Vidhyaranya Swami along with his disciples Hari Hara and Bukka Raya saved the country. They established a new kingdom called Vijayanagara, hid the war loot in Kishkindha mountain and protected it by dividing the secret in two. Swamy then extracts a vow from forest tribe leader and Vijayanagara Minister to guard this secret.
