Rewa Ruggers Help Out In Lakeba
The Rewa rugby team’s 10-day tour to Lakeba, Lau involved a lot of community work on the island besides running daily clinics.
In a facebook posting from Lakeba, Rewa Rugby said:
“With reference to the weather advisories, the Lakeba Rugby Union exercised prudence to forego the “Solevu” planned on December 17 and the much anticipated Game 1 Rewa vs Lakeba scheduled for Friday, December 18.
“All other programmes are similarly suspended and will be reviewed once the weather eases.
In the meantime, the team on Wednesday undertook community work project through a clean-up campaign at the Lakeba Hospital compound.
“This was appreciated by the health authorities here and also brought satisfaction to the team to be able to contribute to the community through this work. Lunch was hosted at Levuka Village.”
Members of the team also helped in the preparation for Cyclone Yasa. They went to Vakano village, to help villagers nail shutters and rooftops.
They also assisted in transporting senior citizens from their villages to their evacuation centres.
The Rewa Rugby Union continue to be immensely grateful for the wonderful hospitality accorded to the team since arrival.
