THANE: The deposition of a mother nailed her son, who had brutally murdered his septuagenarian father in 2017, this resulted in the accused son getting life imprisonment on Thursday which was sentenced by the court.
The Thane principal and district sessions judge R M Joshi, convicted the accused, Suresh Dhinda, 52 who resided with his parents in Navin Pendripada, Baramhangaon of Paye village in Bhiwandi taluka.
Prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar told the court that the victim, Dharma Dhinda, 70 wanted his son to share his farm work, which his son did not do this resulted in frequent quarrel over the issue.
“On the fateful day, December 17, 2017 at around 9.00 pm, once again the accused picked up the quarrel on the same issue and picked up the chisel and inflicted multiple stab wounds on his father and killed him and fled the scene to be arrested on January 02, 2018,” Moholkar said.
Based on the complaint by the mother of the accused, the police at Bhiwandi police station registered the present crime and initated probe and filed the charge sheet. “During the trial the prosecution examined seven witnesses including the victims mother, brother and others,” said Moholkar.
The eye witness account of the witnesses, accompanied by the medical corroboration, and CA reports were relied on by the judge who sentenced the accused, said Moholkar.
After examining the evidence before him and the depositions the judge concluded that the prosecution has successfully proved the charges against the accused who needs to be convicted and sentenced.
The assistant inspector DD Rajput supervised the probe by investigation officer Rajiv Patil and police head constable BV Ohol who arranged the witnesses and took it to the logical end. The judge after hearing both sides held him guilty of the offences punishable under section 302 (murder) and other IPC sections and fined him Rs 500.
