NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Following instructions from the central government,
Uttar Pradesh has decided to conduct a dry run of the
Covid-19 vaccination drive at six centres in Lucknow today (Saturday).
Meanwhile, the state government has directed Noida and
Ghaziabad administrations to conduct mock drills for the
vaccination process in their respective districts on January 5.
In Gautam
Budh Nagar, three centres in urban areas and three in rural regions have been designated for the process.
Bisrakh CHC and Child PGI in Sector 30 have been tentatively selected.
Overall, a total of 75 booths have been finalised instead of the 73 that was decided earlier. Also, 14
cold chains to store the vaccines when they arrive in the district have been equipped with
CCTV cameras.
According to the district health department, during the mock drill, officials will evaluate the preparations for the vaccination drive. While teams comprising vaccinators, mobilisers and supervisors will be asked to reach the sites on the designated day, senior officials will take rounds and conduct inspections.
“All preparations have been made in GB Nagar, where 21,543 healthcare workers (HCWs) will be vaccinated in the first phase of the Covid-19 inoculation process,” said Dr Deepak Ohri, chief medical officer, GB Nagar.
In Ghaziabad too, three sites each in urban and rural areas will be selected. In rural areas, the centres will likely be in Muradnagar and Modinagar, while in urban areas two government hospitals — MMG District Hospital and District Combined hospital —and a centre in Nehru Nagar might be chosen for the dry run. A senior health official said that the mock drill will include a check on the process of transferring vaccines from a cold chain to the session site.
