Additional chief secretary, health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, “For the first time in six months, UP has recorded only eight Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours. The total number of deaths has reached 8,387.”

Lucknow accounts for maximum 1,114 casualties followed by Kanpur (822), Varanasi
(438), Meerut (429) and Prayagraj (390). Besides these top five places, 18 districts have recorded more than a hundred deaths. Loss of lives in Hathras (7) and Kasganj (6) districts has been in single digit.
Prasad urged people to follow Covid-19 appropriate behavior despite the decline in cases and deaths. “The risk of infection still looms large. In fact, prevention measures must be followed even after the vaccine arrives,” he said.
