6,000 Covid warriors in Chamarajnagar to be vaccinated

As many as 6,000 Covid warriors comprising doctors, nurses, ASHA and anganwadi activists in Chamarajnagar district will be vaccinated in the first phase. Sources from the health department said they are busy preparing the list of Covid warriors from the district who would get the shot of the vaccine. The process may begin after the first round pulse polio drive ends in mid-January.

MYSURU: As many as 6,000 Covid warriors comprising doctors, nurses, ASHA and anganwadi activists in Chamarajnagar district will be vaccinated in the first phase. Sources from the health department said they are busy preparing the list of Covid warriors from the district who would get the shot of the vaccine. The process may begin after the first round pulse polio drive ends in mid-January.
“As per the advisory from Central, state health authorities and district administration, the health department officials are making all preparations for the success of the vaccination drive.
As per the government’s instruction, we have prepared a list of 6,000 Covid warriors including doctors, nurses, students, technicians and group D workers. It may reach 8,000 as few more will be included,” said a source from the district administration
The district administration is also taking efforts to clear all misconceptions about the vaccine by interacting with the stakeholders, public, NGOs and civil society organizations.
As the government has also advised on making security arrangements at session sites, cold chain management, vaccine storage sites, preparedness for any adversities, collation of data, the district health authorities are working on these aspects, said the sources.
“Though the state government has not made any official communiqué regarding the administration of vaccination, the district health authorities are gearing up for the vaccination programme as state government may release the vaccine at any time after first phase of pulse polio drive ends on Janaury 20th,”said Dr M C Ravi, Chamarajanagar district health officer.
