50-year-old woman gangraped, murdered in Badaun; two arrested, temple priest booked

The three men dropped the woman at her house on Sunday and she was found bleeding, the family alleged. She died while during treatment at a district hospital.

“We received information on Tuesday after a family alleged that a woman had been gangraped by three men which later led to her death. The postmortem report confirmed bleeding in private parts and death due to antemortem injuries. Two people have been arrested while the main accused will be held soon,” said Raghvendra Singh, SP RA Badaun.

An FIR has been filed under sections 376 D (gang rape) and 302 (murder) against the three accused in the concerned police station.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Congress unit launched an attack on the Yogi Adityanath government and compared the brutality in the alleged crime to the December 16 gangrape. “Adityanath’s mission, which began to hide Hathras’ failure has failed. The CM has launched the ‘Mission Shakti program’ and betrayed the women of the state. He must apologise,” the party tweeted.
