Thirdy Ravena out of All-Star Game, Slam Dunk Contest

Thirdy Ravena will not take part in this weekend’s Japan B.League All-Star Game due to a fractured right finger suffered in a recent game with San-En Neophoenix.

The B.League said Wednesday that Takuya Kawamura of the Mikawa Seahorses will replace Ravena on the B.White team after the latter hurt his shooting hand in a road loss to the Shibuya Sun Rockers.

Ravena has also opted out of the Slam Dunk Contest because of the injury, the league added.

He was chosen to take part in the midseason event set in Mito, Japan upon recommendation by the league in mid-December.

But Ravena got hurt in the third quarter of the 81-80 loss to the Sun Rockers, and was grimacing in pain while being treated by the Neophoenix medical staff on the bench.

Both events would have given Ravena a chance to showcase his skills after a solid showing in 12 games with the Neophoenix this season.
