PATNA: At least one person was lynched and two were badly injured after being thrashed brutally while allegedly trying to flee after stealing cattle at village Kadgama under Srinagar police outpost of Krityanand Nagar police station area in Purnia on Thursday.
Purnia sadar hospital superintendent Dr Surendra Das said that one of the injured person has received severe injury in both of his eyes.
When asked, Srinagar police outpost in-charge Santosh Kumar Jha told this newspaper over phone that the slain person was identified as Shyamanand Yadav who was aged around 36 years.

He said two more injured persons were identified as Manoj Yadav (40) and Kailash Sah (25). Jha said that Manoj and Kailash were under treatment at district sadar hospital.
He said Manoj is native of Devinagar village in Srinagar and rest two hailed from Koskapur village under Raniganj police station area of Araria.
“Shyamanand was declared dead after being brought to hospital. His post-mortem has been conducted and police is awaiting arrival of his family for handing over body,” he said.
Jha said that one Janki Devi of Oraon Tola in Kadgama village had lodged FIR against the trio alleging that they were fleeing after taking away her buffalo from cattle shed at around 2am.

“The villagers got to know about theft after stray dogs in village started barking. The villagers woke up and caught all the trio after chasing,” he said.
In-charge said that the villagers mercilessly thrashed all three and kept them tied for several hours until police got information in the morning.
“They were being kept thrashed even while being kept tied,” he said.
Jha said that another case has been recovered on statement of injured Kailash in which he had confessed that they were fleeing after stealing cattle.
“It was Shaymananad and Manoj who had roped him. Manoj had informed Shyamanand about house from where cattle could be stolen,” he said
The in-charge said Manoj is accused in at least criminal cases of arms recovery, theft and extortion in Srinagar.
“Araria police informed us that though any police case was not present against Shyamanand and Kailash but had input about their involvement in cattle theft activities,” he added.
