Gurgaon: After CBSE announced that Class X and XII exams will be held from May 4, the state government is now contemplating the dates of the Haryana Board of School Education exams to be rescheduled around the same time. This was discussed in a recently held meeting of the school education department. Education minister Kanwarpal Gurjar is expected to discuss it with CM Manohar Lal Khattar and pass directions to the board.
“Our board exams follow the CBSE schedule.
This year, CBSE has decided to conduct the exams from May 4 and we are also deliberating the possibility of holding exams then. Exams will either be held from the last week of April or the first week of May,” said an official.
The board wants to conduct the exams a month later than the unusual schedule as the lockdown had disrupted studies. The department said students should get sufficient time to prepare. Moreover, teachers also need time to finish the course and begin with the revision sessions.
“Due to lockdown, studies suffered a lot. Even the online classes took some time to streamline and it was only in December that the students were called to schools. It was much required to delay the exam dates to give time to both teachers and students,” the official added.
Moreover, the board has asked the teachers to prepare a bank of 500 possible questions that could come in the final exams. This question bank would be enough to enable students to attempt at least 50% of the paper and attain passing marks.
“This time we are keeping 50% of the paper in the objective section and it will have 1 mark questions,” said Sunil Kumar, Gurgaon block nodal officer for the HSEB.
