Bhandara hospital tragedy: 10 babies die in fire, seven others rescued

At least 10 premature babies lost their lives after a fire broke out in the neonatal care unit of District General Hospital in Bhandara. An on-duty doctor and nurse managed to save seven other babies. Prima facie, the fire appears to have broken out due to a short circuit. Four babies were charred to death while the rest got compromised as the oxygen supply got cut. Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a probe into the incident.
