On
Hrithik Roshan's
birthday today, ETimes reached out to his filmmaker-father
Rakesh Roshan to know more about the actor, his choice of films, and qualities that the actor has imbibed from him. Excerpts:
From an assistant director to an actor
He is evolving in every sphere of life, improving as an actor every year, and looking better with each passing day. He is very hard working and does not take life very easily. He is still the same hard working boy that he used to be as an assistant.
His choice of films
He has great choice in films and has done a variety of roles in the short span of his career, unlike any other actor.
He has also justified all the roles he took up--whether it was Guzaarish, Super 30, Koi...Mil Gaya, or
Krrish. He suits the part of every role he takes up; that's the kind of effort he puts in.
The person that he is
He is simple and innocent and his eyes reflect that, which is the best part of being an actor.
As a father
He is thousand times better than I was as a father. He looks after his kids so well! His world revolves around his children.
Plans to shoot with him
The situation is bad; single cinemas are closing down. My films are big screen experiences, so I will wait to take my film on the floor. I am looking at what will happen. I have to anyway wait for the pandemic to be over to start it.
Up for a challenge
Hrithik wants something that challenges him, which I think is good. I think he has learnt it from me. Even I try to make challenging films all the time and pick up subjects that require me to experiment. Like me, he doesn't want to portray roles which have no character in them.
Qualities Hrithik has imbibed from his father
Being selective about films, discipline and punctuality.
Advice and wish for the actor
The advice is to remain the same Hrithik he is and I wish him loads of happiness, peace, and strength.
