Australia's number 3 Marnus Labuschagne in no time has become one of the best batsmen going around in the world. The right-hand batsman is averaging 58.81 from his 16 Test matches. It would not be wrong to say that currently, he is Australia's second best batsman after Steve Smith.

After scoring 91 runs in the first innings of the ongoing third Test versus India at the SCG, the 26-year-old scored 73 in the second innings. The batsman, who is a self-proclaimed fan of Steve Smith and copies his on-field style, now has something to get compared with former Australia captain Michael Clarke as well.

In an interesting coincident, the first and second innings scores of Michael Clarke in the 2004 Nagpur Test against India is also 91 and 73.

While, Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja and Navdeep Saini, Michael Clarke had fallen to Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble. A pacer and a spinner combined to dismiss the two batter in the two matches 17 years apart.

Clarke played 115 Tests for Australia, scoring 8,643 runs at an average of 49.10. He hit 28 tons including one triple hundred.

Marnus Labuschagne has been involved in three century partnership in the SCG Test. He partnered for 100 runs each with Will Pucovski and Steve Smith in the first innings and in the 2nd innings he stitched another 103 runs with Steve Smith.

Labuschagne was given a lifeline by Hanuma Vihari, who dropped his catch when he was three runs away from his fifty.
