NAGPUR: The city police and nuisance detection squad of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday launched drive against kite flyers using nylon manja.
The drive comes after the death of one Pranay Thakre, 23, an engineering graduate, died after nylon 'manja' string of a kite slit his throat on Tuesday while he was heading towards his residence at Dnyaneshwar Nagar in Manewada on his bike.

Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar and municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B told TOI that instructions have been issued to all police stations personnel and civic cops to seize nylon manja and prosecute those flying kites with banned strings.
NDS team led by commandant V Tambe also caught 40 youths, especially children using nylon manja to fly kites.
