Bihar: Heroin and opium worth 3.5 crore seized in Aurangabad

Heroin and opium worth Rs3.5 crore were seized from a house at Siris village under Barun police station area in Aurangabad district on Wednesday. The house belonged to Md Israar Ansari and his brother Md Aslam Ansari. No one was arrested.

AURANGABAD: Heroin and opium worth Rs3.5 crore were seized from a house at Siris village under Barun police station area in Aurangabad district on Wednesday. The house belonged to Md Israar Ansari and his brother Md Aslam Ansari. No one was arrested.
“Both are absconding. An FIR has been lodged with Barun police station under relevant sections,” sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Anup Kumar told reporters on Wednesday.
He said the raid was conducted on a tip-off.
“During the raid, 660 grams of heroin and 1kg of opium worth Rs3.5 crore in international market were seized. After examination, it has been confirmed that the seized articles are heroin and opium,” he said.
Aurangabad SP Sudhir Kumar Porika has announced a reward for the police team. “A special operation is being conducted in the district for arresting drug and liquor traffickers. This seizure has happened in this sequence. Last week also, the police seized a large quantity of countrymade liquor from Madanpur police station area.
