UDUPI: Devotees descending on Sri Krishna Mutt for darshan of Lord Krishna will henceforth take the ‘Vishwapatha’.
This path will see the devotees enter the mutt at its north entrance near the Rajangana, cross the ‘Kattige Ratha’, ‘Madhwa Sarovara’, and the ‘golden roof’ atop the sanctum sanctorum before descending a flight of steps to have darshan at the navagraha kindi and then up a flight of steps to the dining hall before exiting.

Dedicating this new arrangement for the devotees to have hassle free darshan of the presiding deity will be chief minister B S Yediyurappa who will do so on January 18. This dedication will come amidst the launch of a string of socio-cultural religious programmes to mark the mutt stepping into 500th year of the biennial paryaya system that Sri Vadiraja swami enforced and culminate on January 23, said Govindraj, administrator of the temple.
‘Dinakondu Bhagawathamrutha Bindugallu’, a compilation of religious discourses of Sri Vidyadeesha Thirtha, senior seer of Adamaru Mutt brought out by Anand Publication of the mutt will be released on January 16, Govindraj told reporters on Thursday. A national level exhibition-cum-sale of works of artisans from rural parts of India will be launched on January 16, the same day as the launch of 500th year celebration of biennial paryaya.
Highlight of the celebration will be grand procession of the works of Sri Madhwacharya, chief proponent of the Dvaita school of Vedanta and Sri Vadiraja, Dvaita philosopher, poet and mystic from Jodukatte to the Ratha Beedhi on January 18. This coincidentally is also the traditional route of the grand paryaya procession. Souramadhwa Navami on January 22 will be a day dedicated to the grandeur and rich cultural heritage of Tulu, he said.

Sri Eeshapriya Thirtha swamiji of Paryaya Adamaru mutt has decided to honour people associated with the paryaya in various capacities as part of ‘paryaya panchashatamanotsava’, he said. The reception committee that late Sri Vishvesha Thirtha swami of Pejavar mutt started for the paryaya during his paryaya tenure is completing 50-years. This has since been rechristened Krishna Seva Balaga and members of this balaga too will be feted.
The Hagalotsava of the famed three chariot rathotsava will be held on the ratha beedhi at 8am on January 15. The recently restarted initiative of bhojana Prasada for devotees will go on up to 3.30pm. Identity cards will be issued to local devotees for darshan of the presiding deity. One needs to submit their Aadhaar card with a photo and has been introduced as part of security measures. The paryaya seer is focussing on providing basic amenities to devotees, said I Lakshminarayana Muchintaya, deewana, Udupi Sri Krishna Temple.
