Karnataka: Udupi Ashta mutt seers give a boost to VHPs fund collection drive for Ram Temple

UDUPI: Seers of ashta mutts in this temple town gave a major boost to Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s nationwide fund collection drive for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, here on Friday.
The seers handed over their contribution to Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha of Pejavar Adhokshaja Mutt at the Madhwa Mantap in a function held shortly after the famed choornotsava held in connection with saptotsava at the temple concluded.
Incidentally, Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha is also a trustee of the Sri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust set up by the union government for the construction of Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The VHP had earlier announced its intent to embark on a fund collection drive across the country for this much touted project from January 15 and this drive will go on up to February 5. The VHP is raising funds on behalf of the above Trust.
Sri Vidyasagar Thirtha of Krishnapura Mutt, Sri Eeshapriya Thirtha of Paryaya Adamaru mutt and his senior Sri Vishwapriya Thirtha, Sri Vidyadeesha Thirtha of Palimaru mutt and his disciple Sri Vidyarajeshwara Thirtha and Sri Vidyavallabha Thirtha of Kaniyoor mutt handed over their contribution to the temple project to Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha. Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP leader, Vishnumurthy and other VHP leaders were present.
VHP as part of the fund collection drive will give coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1000 to the donors. Those donating Rs 2000 and more will be given receipts for which income taxpayers may claim relief under Section 80 G of Income Tax Act. The funds collected will be credited to the bank account of the trust through the State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank within 48 hours of collection, VHP leaders said.
