PATNA: A special POCSO Act court at Kishanganj has pulled up police for investigation into a brutal rape-cum-murder of an 11-year-old girl as they failed to identify and arrest the accused but filed chargesheet to complete the legal process.
The girl, studying in Class V, was found murdered in an open field at a village under Kochadhaman police station area of Kishanganj on July 9, 2018.
As per postmortem report submitted in the court on January 11, the girl’s nose was chopped off with a sharp-edged object and she was strangled after being raped.
The court observed that there were injuries on her private parts mentioned in the postmortem report, establishing that she was sexually assaulted before being killed. The order came in public domain two days back.
While pulling up the police for its unscientific investigation, the special court of ADJ-1 Ajit Kumar Singh observed that it was fit enough for awarding compensation keeping in the view the sufferings of the victim. The brutal treatment meted out to her further compounded with the failure to trace the culprit by which justice could have been assured to certain extent.
The court thus ordered compensation of Rs6 lakh to be paid to the father of the slain girl, treating him as the victim.
