Uttar Pradesh: 71 percent healthcare professionals given first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Prayagraj

PRAYAGRAJ: Around 71 percent Healthcare professionals were administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at six locations of the Prayagraj district on Saturday.
The officials of the health department have set a target to administer Covid 19 vaccines to 600 healthcare professional . However, the first dose of the vaccine was administered to 425 healthcare professionals only at six locations of Prayagraj district here on Saturday .
Nodal officer and deputy chief medical officer, Dr.
Rahul Singh told TOI that a total of 425 healthcare professionals including Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (75 ), MLN Medical college (65) , MLN Divisional hospital (67), Dufferin Hospital (69), CHC Phulpur (80 ) and CHC Soraon (69) were administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Dr. Singh informed that at Kamla Nehru hospital, the Covid-19 vaccine was first administered to the 70-year-old matron, Delphi L P , who has been working as a healthcare professional since 40 years. After being vaccinated, she said she feels very comfortable and claimed that there is needn’t to panic.
Remarkably, Dr. Krishna Mukherjee (79) , Medical superintendent of Kamla Nehru Memorial hospital was also administered the covid 19 vaccine.
The vaccination drive was launched in six locations of Prayagraj district at 11:10 am after the Prime Minister Narendra formally launched the vaccination drive across the country via video conferencing.
At MLN Medical college, associate professor Neurology department, Dr. Prabhat Singh was first administered with the vaccine. He said that he feels lucky and happy to be vaccinated.

He also said that “people all across the country have been waiting for the vaccine against coronavirus since a long time and once the vaccine was launched, the fear will be eliminated and people would be able to live freely. Dr Singh had also performed duties during the pandemic.
At Motilal Nehru Regional Hospital (Colvin), superintendent in-charge (SIC) of Colvin hospital, Dr. Sushma Srivastava was the first to get the vaccine. She said “ after vaccination, we have to follow the Covid 19 protocols”.
All the beneficiaries (healthcare professionals) who were administered the vaccine, were also given a special card and further asked to take a second dose after 28 days.
Chief medical officer (Prayagraj) Dr. Prabhakar Rai , meanwhile, said that Covid-19 vaccination was successfully carried out at six locations in the district including two community health centres -Phulpur and Soraon, three government hospitals including Motilal Nehru Medical College, Motilal Nehru Divisional Hospital (Colvin), District Women Hospital ( Duffrin) and one private hospital – Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital on Saturday.
He further added the vaccination exercise was done between 10am and 5pm. The names of all beneficiaries (healthcare professionals) were uploaded on Covid portal.
CMO, meanwhile, said a six member team including medical and para medical staff and security personnel was assigned duties at each location.
The health department had delivered the vaccine to two rural based vaccination centres – Soraon and Phulpur on Friday while vaccine in city based centres was brought on Saturday morning. The doses of vaccine were sent to all locations under tight police security arrangements.
“A two-way communication channel along with a CCTV camera set was activated at every site and officials in Lucknow have monitored the vaccination drive,” he added. He said that this was the first time when the vaccination drive was telecast live.
Details of beneficiaries who would be given Covid-19 vaccine dose were uploaded on Covid portal and health officials sitting in Lucknow and Delhi were able to get the status once the details were updated after vaccination.
Officials, meanwhile, said that only three beneficiaries have complained of restlessness for some time after vaccination but there was no need of medication. All healthcare professionals have expressed joy after vaccination.
